Although I did not grow up farming, I have seen how much hard work it takes and how vital farmers are to our community. We owe so much to our farmers and I want to ensure that they can still afford their farm and the equipment they need.</p></li><li><p>My dad has been a teacher for the past 30+ years. Through him I have learned the struggle teachers in our community face. This is why I think it is essential that they are protected to ensure every generation of students can have a quality education.</p></li><li><p>The first job I have ever had was pouring concrete with my dad. It is from this experience that I learned that hard work isn't easy. Yet I still help out every now and then because I enjoy the hard work.</p></li></ul>

<p><strong>I believe that democracy works only when the people's voice is heard. In this time of polarization it seems politicians have lost sight of this. Instead of focusing on issues that directly impact the working class, we have become divided on culture war issues, which only distract us from the struggles the average person faces in their daily life. This is why I want to hear from as many of you as possible. So that I can take your concerns with me to the Capitol to ensure that working class needs are met and not just the needs of big business.</strong></p>

<p>Through sports I learned the value of hard work and what it takes to be successful, not just individually, but as a team. In high school I achieved 3rd place individually at state for wrestling my sophomore year. The following year I helped Perham reach 3rd place as a team at the state wrestling tournament. Additionally I ran cross country where I was fortunate to be part of Minnesota history where we were able to win state three years in a row both girls and boys.</p>

<h2>Importance of Team Work</h2>

<p>As a gun owner, I understand people's concerns about their 2nd amendment rights. What is missing from the conversation is why people feel the need to protect themselves and I believe it stems from a distrust of the government. In order to have conversations about responsible gun policies we first need to re-establish trust between the people and OUR government.</p>

Virtually every developed country has shown that universal health care is doable. Not only is it doable but it also leads to better health care out comes. It is the government's responsiblity to provide for its citizens and I believe it is well past time for universal health care in this country if we want to continue being the greatest nation in the world.</p>

<p><strong>Healthcare is a human right.</strong></p><p>Healthcare should not be determined by how much money a person has. Everyone deserve to live a healthy life and get the healthcare they need without fear of financial ruin. Virtually every developed country offers some form of free healthcare for its citizens. So then why, in the world's richest country, do we not have the same? This is why I will support affordable healthcare at the state level.</p>

<p><strong>The cost of housing continues to become more unaffordable year over year. The reason for this is simple. Housing in America is not seen as a basic necessity but instead is seen as an investment. Meaning corporations buy up all the available housing in order to rent it out for a profit or hold on to it so they can sell it for a profit which increases the already high cost of living for the working class. Instead I believe that single family homes should be owned by single families.</strong></p>

<p>Reproductive healthcare decisions, like all healthcare decisions, should be left between the doctor and their patients. The only time the government should step in is in cases of malpractice and should never get to decide what an individual does with their own body especially when the patient's life is at risk. When talking about legislating healthcare procedures, it is done in a way where you are not putting people at risk by denying them life saving or quality of life care. It seems like a simple process but healthcare is complex and many variables play a role in any medical decisions. This is why certain issues like abortion can get messy as you need to consider the health of the carrier and the health of the unborn child.</p><p></p><h6>Early Term Abortions</h6><p>The most common abortion is medication abortion (the  pill, plan B) where in the earliest weeks of pregnancy a carrier will take a pill that stops the fetus from growing followed by a heavy flow. This helps people who are either too young or are unable to support a family. Banning the pill ends up hurting people, especially women, either from having a child at too young of an age or through financial hardship for those who aren't ready to start a family. It is also tramatic for victims of rape who would have to carry their rapist's child to term.</p><p></p><h6>Late Term Abortions</h6><ul><li><p>In cases where the carrier's life is in danger and the child is non-viable then an abortion is necessary to save a life.</p></li><li><p>In cases where the carrier's life is in danger and the child is still viable then the decision should be left to the carrier to decide since it is their life that is at risk.</p></li></ul><p>These two cases are the most common reasons why people seek abortions when in the third-trimester. So if third-trimester abortions are banned across the board then people's lives are put at risk often with a baby who has died in the womb. This also doesn't even consider that banning abortions tends not to work. When abortions are banned people will take it in their own hands to abort a fetus through harmful alternatives which can also lead to harm to the carrier.</p><p></p><h6>Nonsense</h6><ul><li><p>Women seek abortions for fun or don't think hard on the decision they are making</p><ul><li><p>Abortion, especially late term, is a very traumatic experience for the carrier and partner and is often necessary to save the carrier's life. Well intentioned programs that require education on abortions only add to this trauma. The reason for this is because these programs don't care about why someone is seeking abortion. This then leads to couples who are trying to start a family but experienced a miscarriage who now have to sit through these required programs before they can get an abortion to save the health of the carrier adding to the trauma of already miscarrying.</p></li></ul></li><li><p>Banning abortion works</p><ul><li><p>Banning abortions does not work. All banning abortions would do would push people to seek abortions through dangerous means which can lead to incomplete abortions, haemorrhage, infection, and death. If you really want to reduce the number of abortions then push for sex educations which teach the importance of contraceptives.  <a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/abortion">https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/abortion</a></p></li></ul></li></ul>

<p><strong>When talking about abortion, the conversation typically revolves around when the fetus becomes a life. I believe this framing lacks nuance which is vital when talking about health care procedures. Abortion is not a desision that is decided on a whim and often times is very traumatic for an expecting mother. </strong></p>
